Susie Thierbach's Bio

Susie Thierbach, concertmaster, is in her fourth season as concertmaster of The Metropolitan Orchestra of St. Louis. She is an active violin performer and teacher in the St. Louis area. She received her Bachelors at Illinois Wesleyan University, her Masters from Missouri State University, and earned a Doctor of Arts in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Northern Colorado where she studied under Richard Fuchs. Most weeks you will find Susie teaching violin at Webster and Lindenwood Universities. She spends a lot of time playing in various freelance orchestras throughout the area, including in the pit at Union Avenue Opera. In addition to her violin, Susie spends a lot of time working in the family orchard. She and her husband, Otto, operate Thierbach Orchards and Berry Farm in Marthasville, a destination farm for those who enjoy picking their own fruit. Susie and Otto along with their kids, Elise and Wesley, love to have concert-goers visit the orchard. If you make the trip, be sure and say hi to Susie!
